Rev. Chad J. Cooper is the son of Mrs. Clara W. Cooper and the late Deacon James L. Cooper. He is the youngest of five siblings and is the proud father of one son. He was born in Baker, LA, educated and graduated from Baker High School. He furthered his educational pursuits, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Criminology from Louisiana State University and his Master of Science Degree in Applied Sociology from Southeastern Louisiana University. After serving as a Sunday school teacher, junior deacon and deacon, Rev. Cooper accepted the call to preach in December 2012 and was licensed in February 2013. Pastor Cooper received his Bachelor and Master of Theology from St. John Bible Institute. The Lord blessed the life of Rev. Cooper when he received the call from the historic Pleasant Grove Baptist Church to serve as the 10th pastor in the church’s 168 years. He was ordained and installed on March 9, 2024. Pastor Cooper also serves as the president of the W.M. Pitcher Memorial Scholarship Fund committee auxiliary for the Emmanuel Baptist Church Aid Association under the leadership of President John L. Bowman. Micah 6:8 (KJV) “He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” is one of Pastor Cooper’s favorite scriptures. Pastor Cooper truly exhibits Christian character and has the heart of God. Pastor Cooper is very gracious and humble for every opportunity to declare God’s Word to God’s people. Pastor Cooper has a passion for serving the community and Christian education.
